// Abundance // The other day we walked into a run down museum and the place lacked of serious attention and care. We walked around while our guide explained all the old artifacts and houses of the past. Then my eyes spotted a beautiful pomegranate tree with loads of fruits. After looking at this tree I realised they were all over the property (by the way I don’t think Ive ever seen a pomegranate tree before). The trees were full (!!!) of fruits and so rich in beauty. It hit me somehow that there was such an abundance of fruits in this desolate place.
Pomegranates are special fruits, even mentioned in the bible. The pomegranate was revered for the beauty of its shrub, flowers, and fruit—symbolising sanctity, fertility, and abundance. The Song of Solomon compares the cheeks of a bride behind her veil to the two halves of a pomegranate. Depictions of the fruit have long featured in architecture and design. I love to look at the beautiful seeds in a pomegranate (before I toss them into my salad).
I think God spoke to me in this old outdoor museum. Abundance is my word for this year of 2024.
An abundant life, as described in the Bible, is a life filled with purpose, joy, and peace. It is a life that is not defined by material wealth or success, but by a deep sense of fulfillment and contentment. When Jesus says he has come to give us life to the full (John 10:10), he is referring to a life filled with all of the blessings that God has to offer, including a relationship with him, freedom from sin and death - a life spent helping God fulfill His purposes on the earth.
