Stay In The Know:

The Old Tree

Yesterday I walked in a forest with very old yellowwood trees.

Some were planted in colonial times. One of them dates back to around 1700. It’s massive, so wide and alive it almost looks like a giant octopus.

I sat under it for a while. You can feel something there. Peace. Strength. Resilience.

That tree has lived through so much. Slavery. Wars. Persecution. Apartheid. Storms, heat, drought. Everything. And still, it just kept growing. It didn’t rush. It didn’t give up. It didn’t shrink because times were hard. It just kept taking the space it needed, year after year.

Now it stands there, huge and steady, giving shade and peace to anyone who sits under it. It made me think. Maybe life doesn’t have the impact on us that we sometimes think. Maybe I can just keep growing, slowly, in my own way.

Stay rooted in what matters. Keep going, even when things are hard.

And taking the ground God is giving me...
