Today, 5 years ago we landed in South Africa. It was the Swiss National Day and we came into a new country with our 3 small children, not really knowing what lies ahead! What a journey it has been so far. We experienced many ups and downs, challenging situations and had quite a couple of tears and fears. We experienced culture shock, friendly and unfriendly people, healthy and unhealthy situations, good and bad times. We knew we are in the spot God wanted us - but to be honest - it was hard to come out of a fruitful season in our lives, out of a wonderful church movement and an amazing leaders network in Switzerland, to become a nobody in a foreign country and work among people who were so broken and hurt. Yeah - defently not an easy road! Would we still do it again? The answer is yes. The costs were high on many levels, but also the rewards.
We are still here - maybe still nobodies and foreign but still investing into the broken and the hurt. But to know that we are in the right spot - to invest and pray for change, to love and to heal this broken generation, is worthwhile the prize we payed.
